This website is a personal portfolio operated by Alex Hamilton. This page explains, in plain language, the limited information the site collects and how it is used. The aim is to collect as little as possible.
Who runs this site
This is a personal portfolio run by Alex Hamilton, based in Madrid, Spain, and hosted on WordPress.com (Automattic Inc.). It does not sell products, host user accounts, or offer social logins.
What this site collects
- Contact form. If you use the contact form, the name, email address, and message you submit are sent to me so I can reply. This information is used only to respond to your enquiry.
- Basic usage data. Like most websites, the hosting platform automatically logs standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the referring page, and the pages you view. This helps keep the site secure and gives a general sense of traffic.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site uses a small number of them:
- Essential cookies set by WordPress.com so the site works and stays secure.
- Analytics cookies (via Jetpack / WordPress.com Stats) that count visits and show which pages are popular, in aggregate.
- Spam protection (Akismet) which checks contact-form submissions for spam.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some essential cookies are needed for the site to function correctly.
Third parties
The site is hosted and served by WordPress.com (Automattic), and contact-form spam filtering uses Akismet. The site links out to external services such as Substack, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and news publishers; once you follow those links, their own privacy policies apply. Your information is never sold or rented to anyone.
How long information is kept
Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics are retained by the hosting platform for its standard periods.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete any personal information you have sent me, such as a contact-form message. To do so, get in touch using the contact form on the About page.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
